Proceedings of the ELA Pro Bono Committee Meeting

At their meeting on 10 January 2008, the committee noted with approval the growing success of ELA/LawWorks sponsored employment advice clinics at legal advice centres and received reports on the ELA partnership with FRU and the Bar Pro Bono Unit. The compilation of a pro bono league table of English law firms was considered as the committee discussed how to address the challenge of increasing the commitment from law firms and individuals to pro bono work.  The committee also considered the low level of public awareness and brand recognition for organisations such as LawWorks, and the difficulties of communicating the range of services they offer.
