In the aftermath of the death of George Floyd and related events in the United States and elsewhere, including the UK, and with many employers seeking to take steps to review policies and practices, ELA is delighted that Sandra Kerr CBE, Race Equality Director at Business in the Community (BITC) has agreed to give a live webinar for ELA members on race equality in the workplace.

Sandra last spoke to us at our 2019 Annual Conference, just over a year ago, when she outlined the key findings of the McGregor-Smith review,  progress against targets, and progress in BITC's Race at Work Charter. Back then, Sandra told us that the Race at Work 2018: The Scorecard Report (published one year after the McGregor-Smith review) made for dismal reading in terms of progress against action points.

Sandra returns to update us on what developments she has seen since the BITC published its Race at Work Charter in 2018. She will talk about the practical guidance BITC is developing for employers on processes and actions towards racial equality in the workplace.  Paul will add commentary on some of the legal issues, such as positive action, and other steps that employers ought to consider when addressing race in the workplace.

Sandra will also give guidance on how to capture ethnicity data for ethnicity pay gap reporting – and give an update on calls for this to become mandatory.

All attendees who have booked will receive the link to the webinar before the event. There will be an opportunity to text in your questions during the webinar.
