We are delighted to present this training session aimed at junior employment lawyers who may come across workplace representation as part of their practice – whether as part of a transaction or advising an international client, this session will give you the basic knowledge of other frequently encountered jurisdictions where there are both enhanced and more straightforward employee rights. With mobility of employees becoming more common place along with the rise of employee activism, this session will help you to understand some of the key issues surrounding employee representative bodies and Works Councils to be aware of should you encounter them.

This session will compare and contrast between the different types of employee representative bodies, their key rights, when obligations to consult or notify might arise in the context of a transaction and some helpful tips and tricks to be aware of should Works Councils arise in matters you are dealing with. We have speakers from the Netherlands and Spain, two jurisdictions where Works Councils are a day to day part of the employment landscape. Between them they have significant experience of handling tricky Works Council issues.
