Anxiety is everywhere in society; it is baked into the human brain and can lead to a great deal of unhappiness, but a lot of people don’t really know what it is and how to deal with it, despite the existence of clear diagnostic criteria and evidence-based approaches to reduce it.

The aim of this talk is to demystify anxiety, to understand what it feels like, how it works physiologically and to begin to understand what can be done about it. Most discussions of this topic focus on coping with anxiety - hopefully you will see that there is more available than just coping strategies.

The speaker is Andrew Sweeting, he is a trained CBT therapist and counsellor. He has worked with Anxiety-Disorders for over a decade across the public, private and third sectors. Andrew currently works with private clients largely drawn from the professional services. He also offers training to businesses and charities to help further the understanding of common mental health problems and what to do about them.
