Ronnie Fox is often approached on the basis of his reputation in partnership law and practice. He is particularly well-known for his expertise in negotiating departure arrangements, acting for employers, for employees, for professional firms and for individual partners. Ronnie offers clients and colleagues the benefit of his extensive experience and knowledge, contributing strategic input into client matters and acting as a sounding board for colleagues.

Many clients are in the financial and professional services sectors. Some partnership clients are themselves lawyers and law firms; others are involved in venture capital, private equity and asset management. Partners in professional firms often turn to Ronnie for advice on retirement and succession.

The Partnership section of The Legal 500 includes Ronnie in its Hall of Fame; the publishers say, “The Legal 500 Hall of Fame highlights, to clients, individuals who have received constant praise from their clients for continued excellence. The Hall of Fame highlights the law firm partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession”.
In February 2023, The Times described Ronnie as “the doyen of employment and partnership law”.
Who’s Who Legal for 2023 recommends Ronnie as a Global Leader for Labour and Employment Law.
Ronnie’s contribution to the legal profession includes years of working closely with the Law Society of England and Wales. He served on the Law Society’s Employment Law, Company Law, Council Membership and Remuneration Committees and was a member of the steering group which led to the formation of the Law Society’s Leadership and Management Section.

He is a Past Master of the City of London Solicitors’ Company and Past President of the City of London Law Society. The Company’s Distinguished Service Award was awarded to Ronnie after he chaired a Working Party on The Future of the Legal Profession.

Ronnie founded the thriving multi-disciplinary Association of Partnership Practitioners in March 1998 and was its first Chairman; he is an Honorary Life Member of the Association.

Over 200 articles and book reviews written by Ronnie on legal and management topics have been published. Many radio and TV broadcasts have featured Ronnie; he has often been quoted in the legal and national press. A few years ago the Law Society Gazette – the publication of record for solicitors in England and Wales – published a 2 page profile of Ronnie describing him as “one of the UK’s most prominent employment lawyers”.

International Bar Association conferences all over the world have been attended by Ronnie. He has actively participated in meetings of the Committees on Employment and Industrial Relations Law, Business Organisations, Law Firm Management and Professional Ethics. He is a past Chairman of the Senior Lawyers’ Committee. In November 2020 Ronnie made a presentation to an IBA panel on Succession Planning for Law Firms and In October 2021 he was a member of an IBA panel on The Psychological Aspects of Retirement.

Ronnie’s interests outside the law include opera; skiing; swimming; scuba diving; and management studies. Ronnie has a passion for chocolate (he is a member of the Academy of Chocolate) and never misses an episode of The Archers. He also has a keen interest in motoring. For many years he was the motoring correspondent of City Solicitor. Between 2012 and 2018 Ronnie served on the Board of the Royal Automobile Club; he was also a member of the Club’s Corporate Governance and Communications Committee.

Ronnie has many years’ experience in employment and partnership law. He was the Senior Partner at Fox Williams between 1989 and 2005. He founded a highly-regarded practice, Fox, in 2006 which became Fox & Partners in 2017.
