Joanna has a background which includes over twenty five years’ specialist employment law experience as a practising solicitor. She works with organisations of all sizes and across all industry sectors. Through her support she ensures that her clients are well equipped to respond to day- to-day employment issues as and when they arise, as well taking a pro-active approach to managing their HR responsibilities. Joanna is often praised by her clients for her practical, compassionate and responsive approach to their HR and employment challenges.

Joanna is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the Employment Lawyers Association and is a fully trained Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England. She has been a partner of a leading law firm in Oxfordshire and worked in the City prior to joining an HR consultancy as its Head of HR and Legal where she gained the further advantage of hands-on practical HR experience. In 2009 Joanna set up JMA HR & Legal, a niche employment law practice based in Hampshire and servicing clients nationally and internationally.

Over the years, Joanna has advised small and medium sized businesses, large multi-national organisations and those operating in the charity and public sectors on the full range of employment law and HR issues. She also regularly works with businesses that are based abroad and employ staff in the UK, on a temporary or permanent basis, but do not necessarily have the knowledge and expertise necessary to deal with HR and employment law issues that may arise from time to time. Joanna has also continued to act for employees, in particular those at senior and director level.

Joanna is also a regular speaker at seminars and runs practical workshops on current HR and employment law matters.
