I have been an employment lawyer since 2000.
I have a mixed caseload of employment matters on behalf of Trades Union Members and also private clients of all levels and backgrounds.
I handle a wide variety of employment cases in individual or ‘class action' type cases. For example, I act in discrimination cases such as on the grounds of sex, race, sexual orientation, disability and age. I act in cases involving equal pay, unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, contractual disputes, deductions from wages, protective awards and employment status cases. In relation to unfair dismissals, I have a successful history in specialised cases involving whistle-blowing, trade union reasons, health and safety grounds, the assertion of statutory rights, such as holiday entitlement under the Working Time Regulations 1998, and constructive dismissals.
I also provide industrial action advice and assist unions with internal matters involving union rules, constitutions and matters involving the Certification Office.
I deliver talks and training packages on a wide variety of employment law topics.
I've been involved in a number of appeal cases at the Employment Appeal Tribunal and at the Court of Appeal.
I also represent individuals in internal meetings and hearings, such as in professional disciplinary and regulatory matters.
Here is some feedback from clients:
"Your staff are very professional, knowledgeable and experienced. I can't speak highly enough of David Sorensen’s totally wonderful attitude” – Mrs Johnson
"David Sorensen dealt with my case professionally, was great at keeping me up-to-date and was a pleasure to correspond with" – Mrs Walsh
